UFO Members Help Earthquake Relief Program in Nepal

The UFO Head Office recently collected clothes, blankets, torches, toiletries, sleeping bags, sanitisers and toys from our local community to send directly to Mr Prakash and Mr Chudamani of World Freight International for distribution in the Kavre districts where 90% of houses collapsed after the earthquake.

Thanks to funds pledged from friends and UFO Members (Jetwell, ALLSTA, Wirtz, Dialog, ADD Cargo and Spark Global), we were also able to purchase large bulk quantities of antiseptic wipes, wind-up torches, long-life food, self-heating meals and over 3000 water purification tablets.

A local storage company donated all the boxes needed to pack the aid items and our UK Member, Bibby International Logistics helped arrange the shipping and together with the UFO Head Office and the above Members, we covered the costs together.

Below are some photos of the aid being distributed by Mr Prakash and Mr Chudamani at the Mandali Devi Primary School in the Kavre district in Nepal. The school has been damaged and classes are now held in the open area under tarpaulin.

There were about 45 students and our friends took them the aid donated together with food, drinks and stationary/educational materials.

Mr Chudamani said “We visited during their lunch time so that we could meet the students. They were so happy and we spent around one and half hours with them."

Mr. Prakash has made a pledge to the principal to help the school continuously as per their needs in future through World Freight International.

Mr Chudamani added “We have asked them their current requirements and what they need so that we will be able to assist them exactly what they require. It was really a pleasure time for us to be with them looking their smile at least for short time. Thank you Rachel for the relief arrangement and our big thank you to those who donated the relief materials with their kind heart and helping hands from which we were able to see the smile of victims students who have neither their homes nor school.”
