Member Interview: Nissim Barshan of Barshan International Forwarding, Israel

Barshan International Forwarding is a leading company in air and sea import and export in Israel and have been our UFO member in the country since 2002. Their vast experience includes over 30 years of uncompromising reliability and professional services. This month's interview is with Owner and General Manager, Nissim Barshan (pictured right receiving the Middle East & Africa Regional Award at the 2017 Annual Meeting in the Czech Republic).
How did you first get into the freight industry?
I started as a custom broker and I realised that to give a full service to our customers, we needed to open a forwarding company.
Tell us about a project, shipment or accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career?
I do not have a specific one, but my experience has included gun shipments, a big boat we move from Israel to Japan, diamond powder, gold jewellery and many more!
What drives you in your professional life?
To make my companies stronger, more stable and bigger.
What are the current trends that you see in transportation as far as Israel is concerned?
The big freight forwarder companies in Israel quote very very low prices to customers and it is very difficult to compare. So, we strive to improve our services to customers.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Walking and playing football every Friday for the last 40 years.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
A fox!
